The Sussex Area of the Ramblers is looking for volunteers to take up a variety of interesting and challenging roles.
We're recruiting now to the following roles:
- Area Chair
Provide oversight, in conjunction with the Area leadership teams, to all activities of the Ramblers across East and West Sussex including support to Groups in the Area, drive delivery of our campaigning goals, and represent the Area effectively in interactions with a range of stakeholders, both inside and outside the Ramblers - Area Secretary
Play a vital role in supporting the effective running of the Sussex Area Ramblers leadership team, including team meetings, and communicating with Groups in the Area and Ramblers’ Central Office, as well as welcoming new members - Area Communications and Publicity Officer
Support communications with members in Sussex by creating articles for the Area Website and email communications highlighting issues of interest as well as engaging with local media and acting as the focal point for publicity activities involving the Area - West Sussex Area Footpath Officer
Lead the protection of the vital footpaths and rights of way network across the countryside of West Sussex and ensure that walking in the natural environment is accessible to all, coordinating a county-wide team of Local Footpath Wardens - East Sussex Area Countryside Officer
Engage with planning authorities and other stakeholders on developments likely to have an adverse impact to the walking environment in the East Sussex countryside, leading the submission of objections on behalf of Sussex Area Ramblers and ensuring that decision-makers are held to account and the places where people walk are safeguarded for all. - Local Footpath Warden
Walk the paths in your local area, reporting any issues which you encounter, assess the impact of diversion proposals and planning applications, and liaise with other interested parties.
